Creating Blog posts

  1. Browse to the Blog section of the dashboard, from the left-hand navigation click “Posts” to see a list of the existing blog posts or just click “Add Post” from the menu to jump straight to creating the post
  2. Posts require the title and main content area to be filled out. See Understanding Content Areas for more information on common fields.
  3. Select a category (right sidebar) if needed. The starter category for new blogs is ‘General’, but you can Add categories to suit the different types of blog posts (try to keep the categories broad).
  4. Set feature image – select from images that are already in your media library or upload your own. Check previous blog posts to find out the correct dimensions for your blog.
  5. Publish the post.

Featured Images

Featured images are single images attached to a post, page or other content type that are displayed when needed on the front end at various (Automatically generated) sizes.

IMPORTANT: This is what shows up on the Home page of your website, so it’s important to use good quality, visually effective images that suit your website.

Adding a featured image to a post is easy, just:

  1. Find the “Featured Image” section on the bottom right of the edit page.
  2. Click “Set featured image” and follow the upload process until you are prompted to “Insert into Post”, instead of clicking that, press the “Use as featured image” button below.
  3. Once the button disappears you can close the insert image popup window.

IMAGE SIZE: The size of your featured image will depend on your website (not standardized), so give Staying in Touch a call on 08 9300 4511 or email design@stayingintouch.com.au  to find out your correct Image Size.
