Firstly, select where you would like the image to appear in the text by placing the cursor there. Usually on a new line or before the first character at the start of a block of text.
Then use the “Add Media” buttons on the edit page/post screen (on top of editing panel). Choose the appropriate button depending on what media you are adding (In order of appearance):
In the “From Computer” tab (open by default) you need to upload the desired image file.
NOTE: Before clicking the “Upload from Computer” button it is recommended that you select the “Browser Uploader” instead of using the default Flash Uploader. After selecting the “Browser Uploader”, click the “Browse…” button and choose the desired image file on your computer. Then, click the “Upload” button. Your image file is now on your web server.
In the screen that follows you are prompted to add various description to the image, note that only the title is required, but things like alternate text and description are recommended for search engines.
In the Link URL section, you can select where you would like to take people that click on an image, as a general rule, always select “None” unless your image is large and you would like browsers to see the full version when they click on it in which case select “File URL”, never select “Post URL”.
Choose the desired alignment and size. You’re image sizes will be slightly different depending on the design of the site, but as a general rule use the “Medium” or “Large” if its available, Full size images are generally too large for standard pages, you can link to the full size by clicking the File URL button above.
Image alignment is very straight forward, just select where you would like the image to appear relative to the text container it is placed in.
Finally press “Insert into Post”.
Your image is now inserted into the text at the location where your cursor was last active.
Every time you upload an image to your web server it is added to the “Gallery” of images that are available. If you want to insert the same image into another area, press the add photo button again, go to the “Gallery” tab, press the “Show” link next to the desired image from the list, then follow the same instructions to insert that image into another location.
Featured images are single images attached to a post, page or other content type that are displayed when needed on the front end at various (Automatically generated) sizes.
